Android Software

Android is the new Google platform for mobile phones. It was developed by the Open Handset Alliance Project, which is a group of the 30 companies all working together.

The platform is described as an 'open' platform, which will allow users to change it to suit their own needs. The open-source part of the platform will allow individual developers to create their own applications.

Google hopes this openness will create internet like development in the mobile phone industry.

Developers can create applications for the platform using the Android SDK.

Through the Android Developers Challenge, new and exciting applications have already been created for the platform. Below are some of the successful applicantants who won awards for their android applications.
