T-Mobile G1
The G1 is produced by a Taiwanese company HTC and will be sold in the UK exclusively through T-Mobile. It was showcased in New York and will be on sale in America this month and in the UK in November, ready for the Xmas market.
Though the G1 cannot compete with the iphones's sleekness, its operating system is the thing to get excited about. Google's Andoid platform will allow users to use different applications and even develop their own applications.
It is expected that T-Mobile will want customers to sign up to 18month contacts at a price of £40/month. Like the Blackberry in the UK, the cost of using a 3G phone with push e-mail is expensive compared to in America. We feel that a cheaper contract would help the G1 compete better with the iphone and the Blackberry.
